Call 954-572-0821. DEREK SIMS is an in-demand trumpeter, pianist and educator, in the South Florida music scene. Mr. Sims has had the privilege of performing with such artists as Benny Golson, John Pattitucci, Freda Payne, Danilo Perez, Gerald Wilson, Arturo Sandoval, Bob Mintzer, Paquito D’Rivera, Jon Faddis, Ingrid Jensen, Bobby Shew, Randy Brecker, Bobby Watson, Pancho Sanchez, Wynton Marsalis, James Moody, Ron Miles, Martha Reeves, and many others. While living in Portland, OR Mr. Sims judged at the many jazz festivals in the Pacific Northwest area. He was on the faculty of the Mel Brown Jazz Camp from 2003-2017. Concurrently, Mr. Sims was the Director of Jazz at the Metropolitan Youth Symphony from 2004-2015. He also was an Adjunct Professor of Jazz Trumpet and the Jazz Band Director at Portland State University from 2013-2018. After these two stints Mr. Sims started PJAZZ (The Portland Jazz School), and coached jazz combos from 2018-2021. After moving to South Florida in 2022, Mr. Sims maintains a private studio of jazz improv students and is working as a jazz director at the Coral Springs Charter School, and a music coach at the Somerset Silver Palms Charter School. JOHN COLLINGE (originally from New Haven, CT) graduated from New York City’s New School University in 2011 with a BFA in music performance (saxophone) and a BA in history. His teachers include Reggie Workman, Barry Harris, Jane Ira Bloom, Walt Weiskopf, George Cables, Tim Price, Rachel Z, Gil Goldstein and Jim Snidero. After college he worked in New York’s music industry for Boosey and Hawkes and the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), eventually rising to the position of Senior Account Executive for the Broadcast Licensing department, while continuing his career as a musician performing throughout the New York metropolitan area. Marriage in 2018 brought John to his wife’s city of Belem, Brazil where his music career flourished. In Belem, he passed a public entrance exam to become a professor of saxophone at Belem’s renowned Carlos Gomes Conservatory and was selected to play alto saxophone in the state jazz orchestra, "Amazonia Jazz Band", performing regularly at Belem’s historic Teatro da Paz and touring Brazil and many parts of South America, sharing the stage with many famous Brazilian musicians. Having recently returned to the US with his family, John has settled down in South Florida where his day job is hiring musicians for the Royal Caribbean fleet and he has quickly become one of the region's first-call jazz saxophonists.

YVETTE NORWOOD-TIGER is an award-winning jazz vocalist, recording and international touring artist, songwriter, Recording Academy voting member, and founder/director of the Palm Beach International Jazz Festival. Yvette is a Detroit, Michigan native who hails from a family of musicians. Yvette performs with vocally clean and pure interpretations, while emphasizing intonation and storytelling. Her vocal styling and texture are often compared to that of Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday. In addition to jazz standards, her repertoire includes the Great American Songbook, standards, bebop, and Latin jazz. She also performs jazz songs in other languages. In addition to her original jazz compositions, her recordings feature music from great composers such as Cole Porter, Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, John Coltrane, Dexter Gordon, and others. Yvette’s CD, LOVE IS, stayed on JAZZWEEK'S charts for over sixteen weeks. Yvette's newest CD, AUTUMN SUN, is a grand tribute to the forefathers of bebop, including Wayne Shorter, Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, and others.

GREG DIAZ is an accomplished saxophonist, vocalist, flutist, performer, composer, and arranger who has toured and performed with Ben E. King, Jon Secada, Gonzalo Rubacaba, The Manhattan Transfer, Ira Sullivan, Bobby Caldwell, Roy Hargrove Phil Woods, and many others. Greg has recorded extensively with his own small Jazz groups, his own big Jazz orchestra and on countless recordings for other artists. LINDSEY BLAIR was named the Best Jazz Musician of 2011 by the Miami New Time Magazine. Lindsey was also an official guitarist for Sabado Gigante, Don Francisco’s reggaetonero Daddy Yankee. But it was Wes Montgomery that got him started on the guitar. Jazz is his passion. He studied the form at University of Miami for his Bachelor and Masters degrees. He has also toured with Maynard Ferguson, as well as played with Dizzy Gilespie. He has also worked for years with Gloria Estefan and Emilio Estefan, and he performed with the Miami Sound Machine at Super Bowl XLII. Lindsey is a guitarist that is driven by a passion for playing and being inspired by music rather that fortune and fame. He is most satisfied with his work when he has been able to break new musical ground, and /or spend some time with his favorite kind of people, musicians.

DUNKLEY II, is a musical performer, arranger, and multi-faceted instrumentalist. Being of Bahamian and Jamaican descent, Waldron grew up in the sunshine state of Florida. Waldron attended Broward College, in Broward County Florida where he achieved his AA Degree in music performance, and finished his studies most recently at Florida State University (FSU) where he achieved his bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Music Performance. As a well-known freelance musician, Waldron’s repertoire consist of jazz, reggae, soca, Junkanoo, orchestral and symphony work, R&B, soul, and church gospel. Waldron is currently Director of the Jazz Studies program at Broward College, as well as the president and co-founder of the “Travis Quinn Young Musicians Foundation”. ALFONSO VELASCO began his musical journey studying piano and saxophone through school band programs and private instruction. His passion for rhythm emerged in high school, where he discovered the drums through participation in the drumline—an experience that would ultimately shape his artistic direction. He went on to further his musical education at the collegiate level, earning a Bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and a Master’s degree from Florida International University. Throughout his career, Alfonso has performed at a wide range of venues and festivals across South Florida and beyond, building a reputation as a versatile and expressive musician. In addition to performing, Alfonso is an active educator and currently serves as an Adjunct Jazz Drum Set Professor at Broward College Central Campus. In this role, he mentors aspiring musicians, emphasizing technical development, stylistic versatility, and the importance of musical individuality. His teaching philosophy draws from both academic training and real-world performance experience, allowing him to connect deeply with students and prepare them for diverse musical careers.

Her high-energy vocal delivery, with deep, convincing emotion has been impacting audiences for many years. Wendy got her Master's degree in Jazz Performance from Florida International University and is a graduate of the University of Miami’s Studio Music and Jazz Vocal program. Wendy has won many awards including the Southern Bell/Pace “Jazz Artist of the Year” and a Miami New Times “best vocalist”. Leonard Pitts of The Miami Herald said, “when she sings, her voice an elegant melismatic instrument, evokes the standard emotions, yes, but deeper longings and muted desires.” She has toured the globe as a featured soloist both on her own as well with other artists, and has headlined festivals in The United States, Madrid, Spain and Russia. Wendy is also a highly sought after studio singer and has recorded for or performed with artists such as Shakira, Gloria Estefan, Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aguilera, Arturo Sandoval, Rita Moreno, Alejandro Sanz, Julio Iglesias, Enrique Iglesias, James Brown and countless others. FELIPE LAMOGLIA is a Saxophonist from Cuba, a Grammy-winning artist, composer and arranger. Born and educated in Holguin, he also studied in Camaguey moving to the Superior Institute of Art (ISA). By the age of 18 he was a member of Cuba’s acclaimed band, NG La Banda. In 1992 he moved to Brazil where he lived for seven years, absorbing the country’s musical and spiritual wealth and playing with great artists such as Raul de Souza, Arismar do Espirito Santo and others. With Bocato he recorded two albums and participated in the Montreux Jazz Festival. While in Brazil, Felipe founded his own quartet, Tumbao, and taught at the University Free of Music in Sao Paulo. In 1999 Lamoglia relocated to the U.S. where he immediately began performing with the late Celia Cruz. In 2001 he began playing with Grammy winner Arturo Sandoval, performing all over the world and recording on Trumpet Evolution, as well as two DVD releases: Live at the Blue Note NYC and Live at the Ann Arbor Summer Festival. In 2004 he joined Grammy winner Gonzalo Rubalcaba, recording on his Grammy-nominated album, Paseo (Blue Note Records). In 2006 Lamoglia arranged and played on Ignacio Berroa’s debut album Codes, also released on Blue Note and nominated for a Grammy. In 2007 Felipe contributed as arranger, composer and co-production for Arturo Sandoval’s Grammy-winning album in 2008, Rumba Palace.

ARGARITA is an internationally acclaimed flautist, vocalist, author, composer, and pedagogue, Argarita has performed in Italy, Poland, Barbados, Finland, Melbourne, Australia and most recently, Accra, Ghana. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Classical Flute Performance from Stetson University as well as the Master of Music degree in Jazz Studies from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. In addition, Argarita earned the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Studio & Vocal Jazz Performance from the University of Miami Frost School of Music. Argarita, is the Chair of the Department of Arts & Humanities, Assistant Professor of Music, and Director of the Ambassador Chorale at Florida Memorial University. Currently, she is working on original music for a new album as she has already released an original tune entitled “Take Me Away,” available on iTunes. Besides, Argarita has performed alongside jazz legends and R&B musicians such as James Spaulding, Cecil Bridgewater, George Benson, Najee, Raw Chew, Steve Miller, David Baker and she also opened for Diana Ross. MELISSA LAWRENCE is a singer, songwriter, recording artist and musician with a passion for the performing arts. She graduated from Florida State University where she studied Theatre and earned a Degree in Creative writing. Melissa has worked with Heartbeat Entertainment as an opening act for gospel legends, including Cece Winans, Shirley Ceasar, Erica Campbell and Sandi Patty. She is dedicated to connecting with others as she spreads love through her music.

Dr. Lisanne Lyons is a jazz vocalist, pianist, guitarist, arranger, composer, clinician, adjudicator and conductor. Her career began immediately following high school as the featured vocalist (guitar/flute) for three Air Force bands (Norad Command Band, Travis Air Force Band of the Golden Gate, and the U.S. Force Academy “Falconaires”) During this time she performed throughout the US and Canada at various jazz festivals and major concert venues. Upon separation from the Air Force, she would attend the University of Miami School of Music and receive several DownBeat “Dee Bee” awards: two for Best Jazz Vocal soloist, one for Best Jazz Arrangement, and two "Dee Bee'" awards as director of UM's Extensions. She was also invited to be a featured performer with Joel Grey on the NBC televised Orange Bowl half-time show, “You’ll Get a Kick Out of Cole” on NBC. Cy Coleman also selected her to replace Monica Mancini for the national tour of his Tony award-winning “City of Angels”. Dr. Lyons has also performed with several big bands: Woody Herman Orchestra, Maynard Ferguson Big Bop Nouveau, Arturo Sandoval, Larry Elgart Big Band, University of Miami Concert Jazz Band, Michael Berkowitz - Gene Krupa Tribute Band, Artie Shaw Orchestra, Harry James Orchestra. Lisanne has performed with many jazz luminaries such as: Maria Schneider, Bobby McFerrin, Mark Murphy, Jon Hendricks, Ed Calle, Duffy Jackson, Jim Pugh, Gary Burton, John Hart, Bucky Pizzarelli, Ken Peplowski, Brian Lynch, Harold Jones, Four Freshmen, and many others. She recorded two solo CD’s, “Right as the Rain," featuring the music of Harold Arlen and “Smile” with the John Toomey trio. Lisanne Is currently the founder and director of Jazz Vocal Studies at Florida International University. She teaches jazz voice, vocal pedagogy, improvisation, arranging, piano and directs the award-winning FIU Jazz Vocal Ensemble.

JOHN MICHALAK is a Grammy nominated and Latin Grammy winning saxophonist/flautist, and a self-taught improvisor who has honed his skills with notable artists from all genres of music, including blues, R&B, Latin and Pop and all varieties of Jazz. John has toured and recorded with international artists Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine, Julio Iglesias, Franco De Vita, KC and The Sunshine Band, Engelbert Humperdinck, Ricky Martin, Jon Secada, and has performed with Carlos Santana, Patty LaBelle, John Legend, and Luis Fonsi. In the jazz genre, John has learned his craft performing with such notables as Dr Lonnie Smith, Sammy Figueroa, Duffy Jackson, Nat Adderley, Victor Wooten, Joshua Redman, and many others. FELIPE LAMOGLIA is a Saxophonist from Cuba, a Grammy-winning artist, composer and arranger. Born and educated in Holguin, he also studied in Camaguey moving to the Superior Institute of Art (ISA). By the age of 18 he was a member of Cuba’s acclaimed band, NG La Banda. In 1992 he moved to Brazil where he lived for seven years, absorbing the country’s musical and spiritual wealth and playing with great artists such as Raul de Souza, Arismar do Espirito Santo and others. With Bocato he recorded two albums and participated in the Montreux Jazz Festival. While in Brazil, Felipe founded his own quartet, Tumbao, and taught at the University Free of Music in Sao Paulo. In 1999 Lamoglia relocated to the U.S. where he immediately began performing with the late Celia Cruz. In 2001 he began playing with Grammy winner Arturo Sandoval, performing all over the world and recording on Trumpet Evolution, as well as two DVD releases: Live at the Blue Note NYC and Live at the Ann Arbor Summer Festival. In 2004 he joined Grammy winner Gonzalo Rubalcaba, recording on his Grammy-nominated album, Paseo (Blue Note Records). In 2006 Lamoglia arranged and played on Ignacio Berroa’s debut album Codes, also released on Blue Note and nominated for a Grammy. In 2007 Felipe contributed as arranger, composer and co-production for Arturo Sandoval’s Grammy-winning album in 2008, Rumba Palace.
