JOHN COLLINGE (originally from New Haven, CT) graduated from New York City’s New School University in 2011 with a BFA in music performance (saxophone) and a BA in history. His teachers include Reggie Workman, Barry Harris, Jane Ira Bloom, Walt Weiskopf, George Cables, Tim Price, Rachel Z, Gil Goldstein and Jim Snidero. After college he worked in New York’s music industry for Boosey and Hawkes and the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), eventually rising to the position of Senior Account Executive for the Broadcast Licensing department, while continuing his career as a musician performing throughout the New York metropolitan area. Marriage in 2018 brought John to his wife’s city of Belem, Brazil where his music career flourished. In Belem, he passed a public entrance exam to become a professor of saxophone at Belem’s renowned Carlos Gomes Conservatory and was selected to play alto saxophone in the state jazz orchestra, "Amazonia Jazz Band", performing regularly at Belem’s historic Teatro da Paz and touring Brazil and many parts of South America, sharing the stage with many famous Brazilian musicians. Having recently returned to the US with his family, John has settled down in South Florida where his day job is hiring musicians for the Royal Caribbean fleet and he has quickly become one of the region's first-call jazz saxophonists.

Mr. Sims has had the privilege of performing with such artists as Benny Golson, John Pattitucci, Freda Payne, Danilo Perez, Gerald Wilson, Arturo Sandoval, Bob Mintzer, Paquito D’Rivera, Jon Faddis, Ingrid Jensen, Bobby Shew, Randy Brecker, Bobby Watson, Pancho Sanchez, Wynton Marsalis, James Moody, Ron Miles, Martha Reeves, and many others. While living in Portland, OR Mr. Sims judged at the many jazz festivals in the Pacific Northwest area. He was on the faculty of the Mel Brown Jazz Camp from 2003-2017. Concurrently, Mr. Sims was the Director of Jazz at the Metropolitan Youth Symphony from 2004-2015. He also was an Adjunct Professor of Jazz Trumpet and the Jazz Band Director at Portland State University from 2013-2018. After these two stints Mr. Sims started PJAZZ (The Portland Jazz School), and coached jazz combos from 2018-2021. After moving to South Florida in 2022, Mr. Sims maintains a private studio of jazz improv students and is working as a jazz director at the Coral Springs Charter School, and a music coach at the Somerset Silver Palms Charter School. MARK SMALL is a Miami based saxophonist/composer/educator who has established himself as one of the top performers in the South Florida music scene. He established his credentials living in NYC and performing with a diverse variety of musicians at such clubs as the Blue Note, Village Vanguard, Dizzy’s, Iridium, and 55 bar. Some of these musicians include Darcy James Argue, The Vanguard Orchestra, John McNeil, Martin Bejerano, Kendrick Scott, among many others. Fulfilling a childhood dream, he became a frequent performer with the Village Vanguard Orchestra at the famed jazz venue. He has performed and recorded with the Grammy Nominated band lead by composer Darcy James Argue called “Secret Society”, which has garnered praise for such news outlets as NPR, New York Times, and Wall Street Journal. His debut record “One Day” features longtime collaborators Damion Reid on drums and Matt Brewer on bass. He was also took his co-lead group called “Bronze” (with saxophonist Walter Smith III) into the studio for their debut album on the Fresh Sound/New Talent label. Ever expanding his performance opportunities, Mark has played frequently for the Broadway musical “Chicago” as well as playing saxophone, clarinet, and acting in the award winning short film “The Drummer”. He can be heard on comedian Louis C.K.’s hit FX show, “Louie”, playing saxophone and clarinet. This diverse experience has afforded him chance opportunities to work with other artists as far afield as Aretha Franklin, Joan Rivers, and Don Rickles. Mark’s break into the touring world came with a call to join Warner Recording Artist Michael Buble’s band. His work with Michael has taken him on 3 world tours playing most major theaters and arenas in the US, UK, Australia and Europe. They performed in over 35 countries and on numerous television programs including the “Today Show”, “Letterman Show”, “Late night with Jay Leno”, “Ellen”, “The Parkinson Show” (UK), “Junos” (Canada), and the “Logies” (Australia). Mark was a featured soloist on both saxophone and clarinet for the Grammy award winning DVD “Michael Buble meets Madison Square Garden” as well as a live performance for PBS (Grammy award winning “Caught in the Act”). His work for Michael has included arranging, composition and re-orchestration as well as performing on saxophones and clarinet. Mark has received accolades in a number of national and international competitions, taking first prize in the East Coast Jazz Festival Competition, placing in both the World Saxophone Competition and the prestigious Thelonious Monk Saxophone Competition among the world’s finest. He is an active educator and clinician who currently holds the position of Director of Jazz Studies at the Wolfson campus of Miami-Dade College. He has taught at University of Miami, Coral Gables CAP program, JECC, as well as UNC Asheville’s Summer Jazz Camp.

FRANCISCO "Cisco" DIMAS has been a faculty member at the Herbert and Nicole Wertheim School of Music and Performing Arts since 2014 as the Professor of Jazz Trumpet and Jazz Arranging. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Cisco maintains an active and versatile freelance career in jazz, classical, and commercial styles, having performed, toured, and recorded for such artists as Gloria Estefan, Juan Luis Guerra, The O’Jays, Barry Manilow, Paul Anka, Aaron Neville, Third World, Gino Vannelli, Natalie Cole, Linda Ronstadt, Juanes, Sammy Figueroa, and Gonzalo Rubalcaba. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Studio Music and Jazz, and a Master’s Degree in Jazz Pedagogy from the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music, and currently tours year-round with KC and the Sunshine Band, where he has been a member since 2014. Born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Francisco has become one of the most versatile and in-demand trumpet players in the South Florida area for which he now calls home. FELIPE LAMOGLIA is a Saxophonist from Cuba, a Grammy-winning artist, composer and arranger. Born and educated in Holguin, he also studied in Camaguey moving to the Superior Institute of Art (ISA). By the age of 18 he was a member of Cuba’s acclaimed band, NG La Banda. In 1992 he moved to Brazil where he lived for seven years, absorbing the country’s musical and spiritual wealth and playing with great artists such as Raul de Souza, Arismar do Espirito Santo and others. With Bocato he recorded two albums and participated in the Montreux Jazz Festival. While in Brazil, Felipe founded his own quartet, Tumbao, and taught at the University Free of Music in Sao Paulo. In 1999 Lamoglia relocated to the U.S. where he immediately began performing with the late Celia Cruz. In 2001 he began playing with Grammy winner Arturo Sandoval, performing all over the world and recording on Trumpet Evolution, as well as two DVD releases: Live at the Blue Note NYC and Live at the Ann Arbor Summer Festival. In 2004 he joined Grammy winner Gonzalo Rubalcaba, recording on his Grammy-nominated album, Paseo (Blue Note Records). In 2006 Lamoglia arranged and played on Ignacio Berroa’s debut album Codes, also released on Blue Note and nominated for a Grammy. In 2007 Felipe contributed as arranger, composer and co-production for Arturo Sandoval’s Grammy-winning album in 2008, Rumba Palace.

YVETTE NORWOOD-TIGER is an award-winning jazz vocalist, recording and international touring artist, songwriter, Recording Academy voting member, and founder/director of the Palm Beach International Jazz Festival. Yvette is a Detroit, Michigan native who hails from a family of musicians. Yvette performs with vocally clean and pure interpretations, while emphasizing intonation and storytelling. Her vocal styling and texture are often compared to that of Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday. In addition to jazz standards, her repertoire includes the Great American Songbook, standards, bebop, and Latin jazz. She also performs jazz songs in other languages. In addition to her original jazz compositions, her recordings feature music from great composers such as Cole Porter, Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, John Coltrane, Dexter Gordon, and others. ARGARITA JOHNSON is an internationally acclaimed flautist, vocalist, author, composer, and pedagogue, Argarita has performed in Italy, Poland, Barbados, Finland, Melbourne, Australia and most recently, Accra, Ghana. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Classical Flute Performance from Stetson University as well as the Master of Music degree in Jazz Studies from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. In addition, Argarita earned the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Studio & Vocal Jazz Performance from the University of Miami Frost School of Music. Argarita, is the Chair of the Department of Arts & Humanities, Assistant Professor of Music, and Director of the Ambassador Chorale at Florida Memorial University. Currently, she is working on original music for a new album as she has already released an original tune entitled “Take Me Away,” available on iTunes. Besides, Argarita has performed alongside jazz legends and R&B musicians such as James Spaulding, Cecil Bridgewater, George Benson, Najee, Raw Chew, Steve Miller, David Baker and she also opened for Diana Ross.

ARGARITA is an internationally acclaimed flautist, vocalist, author, composer, and pedagogue, Argarita has performed in Italy, Poland, Barbados, Finland, Melbourne, Australia and most recently, Accra, Ghana. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Classical Flute Performance from Stetson University as well as the Master of Music degree in Jazz Studies from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. In addition, Argarita earned the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Studio & Vocal Jazz Performance from the University of Miami Frost School of Music. Argarita, is the Chair of the Department of Arts & Humanities, Assistant Professor of Music, and Director of the Ambassador Chorale at Florida Memorial University. Currently, she is working on original music for a new album as she has already released an original tune entitled “Take Me Away,” available on iTunes. Besides, Argarita has performed alongside jazz legends and R&B musicians such as James Spaulding, Cecil Bridgewater, George Benson, Najee, Raw Chew, Steve Miller, David Baker and she also opened for Diana Ross. MELISSA LAWRENCE is a singer, songwriter, recording artist and musician with a passion for the performing arts. She graduated from Florida State University where she studied Theatre and earned a Degree in Creative writing. Melissa has worked with Heartbeat Entertainment as an opening act for gospel legends, including Cece Winans, Shirley Ceasar, Erica Campbell and Sandi Patty. She is dedicated to connecting with others as she spreads love through her music.

She received a BA in Music from Baruch College, a Masters in Music Education at Columbia University, as well as private training in composition, arranging, voice and violin. With her creativity, performance, teaching and encouragement she aids in establishing strong artistic community ties. As a mentor, she established a concert series called Jazz Encounters at radio station WDNA in Miami. As a result of the series, she created the Jazz Education Community Coalition, going into its fourteenth year, where she mentors young musicians with an interest in studying Jazz. In 2018, Ms. Yarling received a $10,000 Knights Arts Champion award for her work with the JECC. She has participated as adjudicator, educational consultant, and performer for the prestigious Young Arts organization based in Miami. In Ft. Lauderdale, Nicole serves as Educational Director and host of a monthly jazz jam for young musicians, First Friday Jam, sponsored by the Gold Coast Jazz Society going into its thirteenth year. The Jazz Journalists of America acknowledged her efforts when she received the Jazz Hero Award for 2015. In 2016, Ms. Yarling was inducted into the South Florida Jazz Hall of Fame. In 2020 she was bestowed the honor as one of the top African American Educators in South Florida.

DEREK SIMS is an in-demand trumpeter, pianist and educator, in the South Florida music scene. Mr. Sims has had the privilege of performing with such artists as Benny Golson, John Pattitucci, Freda Payne, Danilo Perez, Gerald Wilson, Arturo Sandoval, Bob Mintzer, Paquito D’Rivera, Jon Faddis, Ingrid Jensen, Bobby Shew, Randy Brecker, Bobby Watson, Pancho Sanchez, Wynton Marsalis, James Moody, Ron Miles, Martha Reeves, and many others. While living in Portland, OR Mr. Sims judged at the many jazz festivals in the Pacific Northwest area. He was on the faculty of the Mel Brown Jazz Camp from 2003-2017. Concurrently, Mr. Sims was the Director of Jazz at the Metropolitan Youth Symphony from 2004-2015. He also was an Adjunct Professor of Jazz Trumpet and the Jazz Band Director at Portland State University from 2013-2018. After these two stints Mr. Sims started PJAZZ (The Portland Jazz School), and coached jazz combos from 2018-2021. After moving to South Florida in 2022, Mr. Sims maintains a private studio of jazz improv students and is working as a jazz director at the Coral Springs Charter School, and a music coach at the Somerset Silver Palms Charter School.
